Dosage

Warnings

• Discontinue if conception occurs
• Due to Licorice: caution is advised in those taking thiazide or loop diuretics, and in those with elevated liver enzymes taking immunosuppressives; contraindicated in hypertension and oedema
• Dietary supplements should not replace a balanced diet
• Patients taking high doses of St John's Wort are advised to avoid excessive exposure to sunlight or artificial UVA light
• St John’s wort should be used cautiously in patients with known photosensitivity or in patients taking photosensitising agents
• St John’s wort affects the way many prescription medicines work, including the oral contraceptive pill
